Naomi J. Klatt Biographical Profile

Naomi J. Klatt attended school in Madison, Wisconsin through college at the University of Wisconsin. During that time she was a certified American Red Cross Life Guard & swimming instructor, a western horseback instructor and a member of the ski team at the University of Wisconsin. Naomi had first hand medical training from her father at his veterinary clinic. There she
assisted him with medical procedures. (he was Wisconsin State Veterinarian and Professor of Genetics at the University of Wisconsin) 

This early training led Naomi to volunteer for the Hospital Corps. in World War II. Ms. Klatt entered the Navy WAVES and was ordered to Hunter College in New York for her nursing education and training. She was stationed at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Washington D.C. and the U.S. Naval Hospital at Corona, California until the end of the war. 

Naomi married in 1946. She has 4 children, Joseph (Real Estate Broker and mediator) Karen (wild life artist) Katherine (Business Manager) & James (Captain Helicopter Life Flight). Naomi Received her Certificate of Design & Interior Decorator and taught Design as an Instructor while she assisted her husband with a large retail store. In 1951 her husband was called back into the Navy for service in the Korean War and was a Lieutenant aboard the U.S.S. Sagget stationed in San Diego, California. After the war they established a Real Estate & Construction business in La Jolla. They built many large custom homes in La Jolla and San Diego until his death. 

Since then she has participated in 2 careers while raising her family. She maintained her Real Estate career and also worked for the University of California at San Diego in the medical field for 20 years as a Senior Administrative Analyst. Naomi retired from the University and continues to be active in Real Estate at Joseph Dean Klatt Realty, Inc. to this date. In 2000 Naomi J. Klatt received the Spirit of REBA Award for her exceptional contributions to the organization and for her selfless service to the Real Estate profession.

REBA BROKER OF THE YEAR

At the annual shareholders meeting of the La Jolla Real Estate Brokers' Association, Inc. (REBA) held on Thursday, November 10, 2005 the prestigious R. K. Smith Broker of the Year Award was presented by Bud Clark of the Willis Allen Company to Naomi J. Klatt of Joseph Dean Klatt Realty, Inc. Naomi was recognized for her many contributions to the Real Estate profession. The award is presented to the REBA Broker or Broker/Manager no more than once a year to that person who best exemplifies the qualities of personal integrity, ethics, cooperation, dedication to the Real Estate profession and unselfish service given to this association in 2005.

The award is given in the name of R. K. Smith because he exemplified the qualities the award represents. R. K. Smith was the first to be elected as REBA President for three terms. R. K. Smith served as REBA President in 1980, 1981 and 1985. R. K. Smith passed away in 1986 while he was on his regular daily run at La Jolla Shores beach.

Naomi J. Klatt is the third R. K. Smith Broker of the Year Award presented to a Klatt Realty agent. In 1987 James M. Becker received the award and in 1991 Joseph Dean Klatt was awarded the honor. Naomi J. Klatt has been in the building and Real Estate business for many years. In the early 1960's with her husband (now deceased) she built many large homes in La Jolla including the famous Golden Tahitian in La Jolla Shores and the Mansfield and Katherine Mills home on Country Club Drive which was recently designated by the Historical Resource Board as site #702.
