  October 3, 2009 California Western School of Law Mediation Competition Judge for the second round. Dr. Klatt sat as one of a panel of Judges who evaluated a mediation between two teams of two students each.

September 11, 2009 University of San Diego School of Law Guest Professor for Professor Gregg Relyea in a 3-hour course on Negotiation. Dr. Klatt covered the following teaching points:
     1. positional bargaining
     2. rights based bargaining
     3. interest based bargaining
     4. integrative bargaining
     5. distributive bargaining
Dr. Klatt elaborated on each type of bargaining by sharing negotiation war stories to illustrate each teaching point.

January 17, 2007 San Diego Society of Human Resources Managers Law Day facilitated dialogue demonstration. Joanie Cudahy, Debra Dupree, Gregg Relyea, Esq. and Dr. Joe Klatt demonstrated a facilitated dialogue to a standing room only crowd of more than 150 San Diego SHRM members. The presentation demonstrated how a person using mediation and communication techniques could conduct a discussion to resolve an employer-employee dispute.

The group presented a commercial lease dispute mediation scenario for lawyers at the San Diego Bar Association. The presentation was led by Gregg Relyea.

Debra Dupree of the Pulse Institute, Gregg Relyea, Esq. and Dr. Joe Klatt demonstrated a role play for members of the Qualcomm Human Relations Department. Qualcomm video taped the demonstration for use in future Qualcomm training programs.

April 19, 2006 Pepperdine University 2005 European Mediation Study Tour presentation: Association for dispute Resolution-San Diego President Dr. Joe Klatt shared his experiences on the 2005 European Mediation Study Tour with members of the Association for Dispute Resolution-San Diego in the beautiful Kinnaird residence. As Mike Stalsby operated the computer-projector Joe narrated the adventure which began in London, moved on to Geneva, Lyons and concluded with a final lecture at the International Olympic Center. In London the class visited Middle Temple, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square, the Center for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) and Drury Lane to enjoy "Mousetrap" and "The Producers" with Queen's counsels from Middle temple. In Geneva the class visited the World Intellectual Properties Organization (WIPO), listened to a speaker from the Iraqi Claims Commission, took a day trip into France to experience Lyons and the Beaujolais Valley, took a day trip to Gstaad (the playground of the rich and famous), studied at the Castle at Caux, enjoyed dinner in Montreaux, studied at the World Trade Organization, and, finished the Study Tour at the International Olympic Center after a lecture on the Court of Arbitration of Sport. There was a Q. and A. session after the presentation. The evening was enjoyed by more than 20 ADR-San Diego members.
  March 1, 2006 Dr. Klatt, Susan Garrett, Esq., Gregg Relyea, Esq. Jon Brenner, Esq. and Sarah Chase presented a mediation demonstration to the Chief Relationships Officers, an important group of San Diego lawyers and human resource professionals. The demonstration was given at the La Jolla Pharmaceuticals building at 6455 Nancy Ridge Drive, San Diego, CA 92121.

Joseph Klatt, Gregg Relyea, Esq., Susan Garrett, Esq., Alessandra Sgubini CEO of Bridge Mediation LLC mediator and Italian attorney, and, Mike Stalsby, law student at Abraham Lincoln University School of Law presented a mediation demonstration to REBA members.  The program was sponsored by REBA Affiliate Land America Commonwealth Title Company.  Dr. Klatt is a California Real Estate Broker and a mediator, Gregg Relyea, Esq. is an Attorney, law professor and a mediator, Susan Garrett, Esq. is an Attorney, law professor and a mediator, Alessandra Sgubini is an Italian lawyer, CEO of Bridge Mediation LLC and a mediator, and, Mike Stalsby is a California Real Estate Agent and a law student at Abraham Lincoln University School of Law.  The mediation
demonstration was written by Dr. Klatt.
Association for Dispute Resolution-San Diego President-Elect, Dr. Joseph Klatt, and Director, David Watson, hosted a roundtable discussion entitled, "Multi-Dimensional Communication-Make It Work For You" on June 22, 2005.  The event was held in the Kinnaird residence and was well attended.  Joe and David shared their special perspectives on non-visual and non-verbal communications.  Those who attended had an enlightening evening in a collegial atmosphere. Dr Klatt is seated at the far left and David Watson is seated in the center.
On March 17, 2005 a panel comprised of (l-r) Mike Stalsby, Gregg Relyea, Esq., Dr. Joseph Klatt, Susan Garrett, Esq. and Lucia Bruno presented REBA agents with a mediation simulation and de-briefed with the attendees afterwards. The Mediation Demonstration held in the Bistro Room atop the Hotel La Jolla was sponsored by REBA Affiliate First American Title Company.   ~ more

27. 07/02/2009 Guest observer of a mediation demonstration in the Joan Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice on the University of San Diego School of Law campus in which mediator Douglas Glass conducted a mediation while law students and special guests observed the mediation via a two-way mirror. The students and guests observed the mediation and heard the dialogue by way of internal microphones and external speakers. The mediator and the disputing parties were unable to see the students and guest observers as the walls of the mediation room appeared to be mirrors from the inside. This was a novel experiment conceived by Professor Gregg F. Relyea to enhance student learning in real time. (180 minutes)

07/02/2009 Guest Observer of a Mediation Demonstration in the Joan Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice on the University of San Diego School of Law campus in which mediator Douglas Glass conducted a mediation while law students and special guests observed the mediation via a two-way mirror. The students and guests observed the mediation and heard the dialogue by way of internal microphones and external speakers. The mediator and the disputing parties were unable to see the students and guest observers as the walls of the mediation room appeared to be mirrors from the inside. This was a novel experiment conceived by Professor Gregg F. Relyea to enhance student learning in real time. (180 minutes)
